Owego, NY

We found ourselves back in Owego, NY in early August. And by ‘found’ ourselves… I might mean ‘lost’. Or something. Anyways, I woke up one morning in Owego after being there for a few days and thought to myself: “how did this happen?” I love Owego. I grew up in this area – and every time I get to come back, I’m grateful. But this was definitely an unexpected visit – especially knowing that we’d probably spend at least a month this go round. Dyna’s Owego Yard at Hickories Park Luckily, our local ‘front yard’ really is lovely. We pulled…

4 Day Haul: Bozeman, MT to Owego, NY

In early August, we decided that we needed to leave our Montana adventures and return to my (Liz’s) hometown area of NY. We had some family issues boiling up, and finally, we realized we just needed to be in my family’s area of residence to help. A perk of having a house on wheels… we can just bring it with us. And then we have the comforts of home, wherever we need to call home at a given time. Which is highly comforting when you are working through a stressful situation. We spent 4 days hauling 2,075 miles across the…

July 2019: Idaho & Montana

Our summer month of July was jam packed with free front yards, little boy farts, amazing hikes, wildlife sightings, awe causing natural features, and the occasional evening spent watching Nat Geo. Our group of Chortlers for the summer We were busy – in the best ways. The outdoor from dawn past dusk kind of busy. The kind where you’re exhausted, but still want to keep on going. The sort of busy where you finally give up telling your nephew he has to shower because holy hell he smells like a rotten turd and just bribe him with the promise of…

Sioux Falls, SD (& a ROC Trip)

As I sit here at the second truck repair shop we’ve slept at in less that a week, I still can’t get over what a great month+ we’ve had in Sioux Falls (with a 10 day trip back to ROC sans RV). Our home address! We made it ‘home’! Even sitting in this repair shop, with our broken drive axle & jacked up differential – I just feel so happy about so much of the stuff that we got to experience over the past little bit. Waiting for her day with the Dr. Repair shop? Yeah, we screwed our axle.…

San Antonio, TX – Round 2

We’ve been headed toward San Antonio since we left Rochester, NY in September. We spent some time in San Antonio in  2015, during our first year of life habitating in a highway house. And we enjoyed it quite a bit. Who wouldn’t enjoy painting their faces as calaveras and drinking copious amounts of horchata? Ok, maybe some people. But not us. We’re down with that. Our good buddy Jeffy is also apparently a calavera / horchata aficionado because he proclaimed his desire to explore San Antonio during the Christmas season. Ok, so, maybe he doesn’t have a fascination with calavera…

Owego, NY

We boarded a ferry off of St. Thomas, flew to NYC, hopped on the city bus, ran under ground and boarded the subway, sprinted (literally) through the NYC bus terminal to catch our ($1!!) MegaBus, slept our way back to Binghamton, hopped into the car with my brother, and ended back up in my (Liz) hometown area. While we were in the B.V.I.s, Dyna was in the engine shop. And when we returned from the B.V.I.s, she still needed to spend some time in the shop – and then would need to move to a different shop. So we took…

Newark Valley, NY

We limped into my mom’s driveway early afternoon on May 15th happy to be able to put our oil coated levelers down somewhere familiar. Because: oil. It’s still everywhere. I (Liz) grew up a few towns over from where my mom now resides in a lovely old house on the main street of a tiny town in the Southern Tier of NY. I was pretty stoked to see that the lilacs were blooming when we pulled in. It’s been a few years since I’ve smelled lilacs. We spent a few weeks poking around in Dyna’s innards. Well, realistically, Jake &…

Disney World, FL

Disney World. The mecca of magic. A hub of happiness. A locale for shrieking children. A venue to observe parents wrangling 50lb bundles of human with looks of shell-shock in their eyes. Who wouldn’t want to be there? We’ve been heading towards Disney for the past 6 months. Slowly, with a plethora of pit-stops for exploration on the way. Our niece and nephew are both 6, and we figured that now was the time to drag their tiny butts down to the house of mouse and force them to experience every man or woman in a furry suit that we…

Ditching Dyna: NY for the Holidays 2016

Living somewhere new whenever we feel like living somewhere new is pretty awesome. But, as with most things that are awesome, there are downsides. Like missing your people. Yeah, that’s a big downside to not ‘planting’ yourself anywhere. For us, it is the current biggest bummer about traveling as a lifestyle. So, this year, we decided to spend a bigger chunk of time back up in NY, with some of our people. Last year we tried to squeeze too much love into too short a time. This year, we used the ‘holidays excuse’ to spend a month up North. Hey, at least…

Nashville, TN… & back to St.Louis MO

We planned to spend some time in Nashville, TN.   But… then we decided to go back to St.Louis, MO. Another sign that our life is #blessed: we can decide to change our planned place of living (Nashville) to somewhere 320 miles away (St.Louis) over the span of a 5 minute conversation (which may have originally started on the topic of pizza). We had been planning to have Dexter and Andy (my brother, aka, ‘Daddin’) come down for a visit over Dexter’s Thanksgiving break from school (Kindergarten is important!). A few months back we bought 1 way plane tickets for…
