Albuquerque, NM (and another zip trip to Colorado)

Great news everybody! We made it from Las Cruces to Albuquerque and didn’t stop at a repair shop! Not even once! Party like it’s right now because it is! We pulled into an (overpriced) RV park outside of Albuquerque on Valentines Day fueled by cupid themed candy. I like candy. I like themed candy even more. After pulling in, hooking up, and sacrificing to the RV gods for allowing us an uneventful 3 hour passage, we set out to celebrate Valentine’s Day. I love me a holiday. Especially one involving candy. We’ve settled into a pretty solid routine of celebrating…

Las Cruces, NM

We started our stay in Las Cruces with a trip to the repair shop. Luckily, it wasn’t for repairs, but just an oil change and generator service. We pulled into Cummins El Paso (ok, so our stay in Las Cruces is going to start with more time in El Paso) at around 7am, hoping to get out by noon. Because noon seems like a good time of day to drive to Las Cruces. And also, it’s an oil change. And a gen service. 5 hours seems plenty. Secret Cummins Shop surprise! We were in the shop until 6:30pm. Because apparently…

El Paso, TX (& A Weekend in Colorado)

Almost as soon as our 12 wheels came to a rest in El Paso, Jake was on a plane flying to Rochester, NY to be with family for an undetermined amount of time. One way plane tickets aren’t as romantic when they are being used to fly your life/adventure/candy eating partner across the country, away from you. Lucy and I spent several days puttering about Dyna just the two of us. Girl party! But not really. Lucy pouted for a few hours after Jake left, then took over his side of the bed at night and spread herself (she’s put…

Van Horn, TX

Leaving Iraan, TX, we headed west with an eventual destination of El Paso. We found out that Jake’s old roommate had moved there recently, so, why not? And also, we have a zip-trip weekend to Colorado planned in mid-January, and Taylor Erdeski (the old roommate who is not actually old, but was his roommate a few years back) had a previous love affair with our Lucy cat (they lived together as roommates also), so we figured we could ditch Lucy off on Taylor Erdeski (she’s a full name kinda girl) for our weekend zip-trip to Colorado. I don’t prefer to…

San Antonio, TX – Round 2

We’ve been headed toward San Antonio since we left Rochester, NY in September. We spent some time in San Antonio in  2015, during our first year of life habitating in a highway house. And we enjoyed it quite a bit. Who wouldn’t enjoy painting their faces as calaveras and drinking copious amounts of horchata? Ok, maybe some people. But not us. We’re down with that. Our good buddy Jeffy is also apparently a calavera / horchata aficionado because he proclaimed his desire to explore San Antonio during the Christmas season. Ok, so, maybe he doesn’t have a fascination with calavera…

College Station, TX

Our barbecue trail to San Antonio lead us to College Station, TX. Kinda. Jake initially decided we should go straight to ‘the source’ of the best barbecue in Texas (as per Texas Monthly magazine), which is located in Lexington, TX. But at the last minute he routed us towards College Station instead. Apparently he was not pleased with the feral/loose dog situation that I reported to him while on a run in Longview. And College Station is a city of sorts, which increases the chances that dogs will be behind fences or on leashes. So, we ended up in College…

Longview, TX

Texas. Barbecue. Texas. Barbecue. Texas. Barbecue… Yeah. Keep it going. For us, Texas is barbecue. We’re native New Yorkers. Until 2 years ago (holy shit! TWO years ago!) we didn’t know what we didn’t know. And what we didn’t know was barbecue. Texas barbecue. Our friend Jeffy wants to check out San Antonio during the Christmas season (we heard the lights on the Riverwalk are awesome), so we’re slowly headed there. But, on our way, there is plenty of barbecue that needs to be eaten. And Jake has taken it upon himself to map our course from the North Eastern…

Little Rock, AR

Did you know that Bill Clinton spent 16 years living in Little Rock, AR? If you don’t know this fun fact you A.) have not been to Little Rock or B.) have been to Little Rock but were tricked into believing that he was born, raised and still living there. Little Rock, AR loves Bill Clinton. They’ve named the main street in the city after him (President Clinton Avenue). And also a downtown park (President Clinton Presidential Park – say that several times fast). And a bridge near that park (Clinton Presidential Park Bridge). And also the airport (Bill &…

Oregonia, OH

A quick 150 mile pop over from Louisville to Oregonia, OH, and upon arrival something magical happened. We found no evidence of the oil spewing monster that has been plaguing us since Florida. Woohoo! I don’t know where he went, but I’m glad he’s not hanging out with us anymore. Before leaving Louisville Jake pinned a State Park campground on our map, and we hit ‘navigate’. A few miles from that destination, however, we passed a sign for a campground called ‘Olive Branch‘, got curious, and turned Dyna’s big butt around. It was a good choice; a nice, well kept,…

Hahira, GA

We hid out in small town Georgia to try and cure our Disney induced hang-overs. And that’s pretty much all we did for 3 days in Hahira, GA. Disney hang-overs are hard. The RV park we stayed at was really cute though. They had lots of rules about not partying and some ducks that did a duck parade by the rig 3-4 times a day. We liked it. Pretty much the only time we left Dyna was to eat some shitty Mexican style food in Hahira (which is a wicked cute town). Otherwise, we worked to catch up on the work/crap…
