Washington DC Area

A few weeks in the DC area, via Reston, VA. We hung out with Jake’s co-workers, who usually only exist in a virtual space. We played with my good friend ACrain. We ran the Marine Corps Marathon. We traipsed along the W&OD and poked around DC a bit. And our trashy friend ChrisR showed up too.

Savannah, GA

“More butter!” Ok, but first, I better go for a run.   When you roll into the the city of the Queen of Butter, you need to make plans to balance out some of the sin. Long story shortened to weed out details that only other long distance runners crave hearing: I ran another 26 mile race, again, without training. Because I clearly learned my lesson from running a long race without training for a long race the previous 2 times.  It’s so hard to resist the temptation of an organized long run when the course loops around your home for…

Myrtle Beach, SC

We were going to head straight from the Charlotte area to Charleston. But then, as we were assessing the map for our route, we noticed Myrtle Beach hanging around – neither of us have ever been. So, we tinkered around with possible parks to stay in Myrtle Beach and Jake found a ‘snow bird special’ rate at the State Park. We love deals. We got very excited and called the nice park host lady and they had openings in the back of the park. The deal was for a month stay, which we weren’t convinced we wanted to commit to. But, paying for…

Central California Coast

Spent a few weeks boppin’ up and down the centralish Coast of Cali. Actually, I don’t even know what the ‘central’ coast of would be considered. I’m sure Californians have their rules about what they deem central, but since I’m not a Californian I get to make stuff up and call it good. Anyways, this is a post about the time we spent in several places from Big Sur to Half Moon Bay with a few trips up into the city of San Francisco.  We’ve had our homing beacons set on movement towards Big Sur, CA for the past 6ish months. You see…

Fort Worth, TX

I don’t think I ever really got a grip on what people meant when they said things along the lines of ‘the size of Texas’ or ‘Texas sized’ until we started traveling full time. When people say ‘bigger than Texas’, I think they might be exaggerating, because at this point, I’m pretty sure there isn’t much that is ‘bigger than Texas.’ As such, we keep gracing Texas with our presence; this is a post about our time in and around Fort Collins, Texas, which is pretty big into cowboys. And when you’re talking about Texas being big into something, then you’re…

Marathon, TX

We had plans. Big plans. To go to Big Bend National Park. Because its the ‘playground of Texas.’ And we like playgrounds.  So we booked a spot at the Marathon Motel & RV Park. Because we need internet. And Texas’ playground does not come with internet (its old fashioned or something).  We also needed groceries. Because we’re hungry people. The town of Marathon, TX has exactly one grocery store. And its about the size of our RV.  Regardless, it was an excellent little grocery store.  It had all the things we needed, like ice cream and chorizo. And a flyer…
