Augusta, GA

Augusta, Georgia sounds like a cool place. We needed to get to Atlanta so that we could use their airport. Augusta was between Myrtle and Atlanta. So, we ended up in Augusta. And it wasn’t not cool. They have big pieces of cake there. Originally we had hoped to park our butts out in Aiken, SC because they have a lot of ponies and pony people and people riding ponies but not ponies riding people. Apparently a lot of people want to go see the ponies and the people who ride them because we couldn’t get ourselves an RV sized…

Asheville, NC (II)

Some people like Asheville, NC. Some people like getting married. Some people like getting married in Asheville, NC. We like Asheville, NC. A lot. But, we already did the getting married thing. But! We were in luck. Because our friends Scott and Nicky, who also really like Asheville, NC, felt like getting married. So, naturally, they decided to do it in Asheville. Which brought us back to Asheville, NC. Because we weren’t about to miss witnessing Scott getting married to Nicky. In Asheville.

Hershey, PA

We’re heading South. And guess what? HERSHEY, PA IS SOUTH! Have I told you lately that I love candy? We rolled into Hershey Park Camping Resort on a Thursday and picked out a pull through spot before heading down into town to grab some hot chocolate. Because we’re only in Hershey for 4 days – and I fully intend to fill those four days with chocolate. The campground wasn’t a ‘great deal’ financially, but it was a ‘great deal’ in that it was close to all things chocolate. And, we occasionally caught wiffs of chocolate wafting in the air from…

Corning, NY

After spending two and a half months in Rochester, NY, ditching Dyna and hanging with friends and getting ourselves married, we pried ourselves away from our sweet little short term lease apartment and plopped ourselves (and Lucy) back into our box on wheels. Things start getting a little unpredictable weather wise in Western, NY come October. And, while Dyna is really good at a lot of things, like providing a familiar bed to rest our bodies in while we travel the U.S., one thing she is not very good at is providing for climate control. In short – when it…

Grand Rapids, MI

Disclaimer: This blog was written at a significant delay (December 2018). As in, the delay was so significant, that I don’t feel that I can accurately represent our time at this location in story form. So, I am just going to post photos I captured here and then ramble about some of my clear memories of the place via some bullet points. How did I get so far behind? Well, there was a summer visit from a nephew, and also a giant party in Rochester that needed to be planned for. But, also, if it comes down to blog writing…

Las Vegas, NV

Las Vegas, NV. It’s loved. It’s hated. It has a big airport. The airport drew us in. Her gaudy vibrance won us over. And also the swankiest RV park we’ve ever stayed. Yeah, that part really extra won me over. Our friends Cam & Alissa came to hang out with us near the Grand Canyon, and while they flew into Phoenix, AZ, it was cheapest for them to fly out of Vegas. And when Vegas says “come here, we’ll fly you home cheap,” you go to Vegas.* *When Vegas offers you other things or activities with the same tag line, you…

Williams, AZ / Grand Canyon (Round Two)

With Jeffy on board, we made a quick hop over to Williams, AZ to stage some trips into Grand Canyon (South) National Park. I guess Jeffy picked a good (impromptu) time to show up at Dyna – the Grand Canyon is pretty sick-nasty-awesome-amazing. I can’t get e-freaking-nough of the Grand Canyon. After 2 weeks of dry camping in the National Forest outside of Flagstaff, we were super pumped to empty our tanks and have access to all-you-can-water-yourself showers. We were extra pumped when we pulled into The Grand Canyon Railway RV Park and were assigned the primo spot in the park.…

Holbrook, AZ

On February 28th we rolled on all 12 wheels into Holbrook, AZ. Why Holbrook, AZ you may be asking yourself? What’s the scoop? Is it amazing and great there? Is there a lot of amazing stuff to do? No. It’d be more effective to just ask yourself, ‘why do Jake & Liz go anywhere these days?’ Correct! You’re right! Great job! Yes! Holbrook does have a diesel shop! Jake swears that this time it was ‘planned’ maintenance. At this point, I’m almost of the impression that Jake just really likes hanging out at repair shops. Except I know he hates…

Casa Blanca, NM

We mentioned in our previous blog we stayed at an overpriced place in Albuquerque. Several times if I remember correctly. I can’t help it. I’m cheap. And I’m not embarrassed about my cheapness. It drives Jake insane sometimes. But in this instance he agreed with my tendency towards cheapness. We decided we needed to find somewhere cheap to stay for a bit to makeup for the bling$bling we spent in Albuquerque. Of course, Dyna’s been being a pain in the a-double-s lately, so we aren’t currently able to wildcamp. Which would typically be free. Something to do with the radiator…
