Our apocalypse mobile… it’s not overly pandemic proof. Kicked Around Florida: Vero Beach & Melbourne

After being non-physically forcefully ejected from Jonathan Dickinson State Park due to Coronavirus induced closures of all Florida State Parks, we ended up at a private RV park in Vero Beach, Florida. No fun at Sunshine Travel RV Resort. #thankscorona We were able to snag a spot at the RV park due to the plight of Canadian snowbirds, most of whom had to end their trysts in warmer weather in order to get back across the Canadian border for fear of further border restrictions. We settled into our campsite at Jonathan Dickinson State Park (apparently Florida really enjoys naming state parks after bros names ‘Jonathan’) with hopes of running a 6-hour ultramarathon in preparation for a 100-mile ultramarathon that was on my calendar for later in April. Key Largo, FL

I was pretty stoked about Key Largo, and our impending arrival and five day stay in Key Largo. Mostly because of the Beach Boys and the Kokomo song, which was a top 5 hit in the life and times of Liz aged 4 years to 10 years. Key Largo side road ocean dead end The Beach Boys really set me up for disappointment. Or maybe Curry Hammock did that. Key Largo is still ‘the Keys’, but it’s right at the top of the shaft. We made the 7 hour by Dyna drive from Apopka, Florida to Marathon in the Florida Keys in a single day – we were so excited. Jake has been talking about attending a major RV show for years now.
