Myrtle Beach, SC (II)

Disclaimer: our ‘lead editor and typo catcher extraordinaire’, Scott Baron (who you may know of if you read this blog with any regularity) recently set forth on a 2000+ mile adventure along AT, where he will hike for months from Georgia to Maine. So, if you find any typos in this post – it’s his fault. Can you believe he would choose to leave us high-and-dry to hike by himself through the wilds of the Eastern US? Yeah – us either. But for real – how cool is Scott Baron you guys?! Myrtle Beach, round two… I’ve been looking forward…

Ditching Dyna: ‘Home’ for Christmas 2018

Christmas. That special time a year when you show your family and friends how many dollars worth you love them. That’s not true – but also, maybe it’s a little true. We decided to head back up to NY this year to forcefully gather our siblings and their offspring into one 3 room suite in the Greek Peak Lodge in Cortland, NY. We were stoked, because for the first time in our collective history, all of our siblings promised to join us, which was super cool. She’s a shit cat, but she’s a great little co-pilot.Pitstop at Winde Jackson Cakes!Santa…

Columbia, SC

We pulled into Columbia, SC, greeted by a late Fall cold snap. So we spent pretty much our entire stay in Columbia huddled in Dyna trying to stay warm. We bought an additional space heater. We hunkered down for four days and snuggled Lucy. I continued my recovery from my One Epic slog. (I catch some emotions after long exertions, and do a lot of napping, and feel a lot of emotions). Jake spent the days trying not to do anything like eat too much of my candy stash that might set off a wave of tears. He’s really good…

Spartanburg, SC

We rolled into Croft State Park outside of Spartanburg, SC under the premise of me (Liz) running a 24-hour race. Croft is a nice park, although due to the race, which we were there for, the only available camping spaces were in the lower area of the park. This looked fine on paper. Heck, the lower area of the park overlooks a lake! But, after ramming our big ass down to this area, knuckles quickly turning white, we realized that the spot we had reserved was less than suitable for an oversized ass such as ours. Luckily there were a…

Asheville, NC (II)

Some people like Asheville, NC. Some people like getting married. Some people like getting married in Asheville, NC. We like Asheville, NC. A lot. But, we already did the getting married thing. But! We were in luck. Because our friends Scott and Nicky, who also really like Asheville, NC, felt like getting married. So, naturally, they decided to do it in Asheville. Which brought us back to Asheville, NC. Because we weren’t about to miss witnessing Scott getting married to Nicky. In Asheville.

Washington DC Area

A few weeks in the DC area, via Reston, VA. We hung out with Jake’s co-workers, who usually only exist in a virtual space. We played with my good friend ACrain. We ran the Marine Corps Marathon. We traipsed along the W&OD and poked around DC a bit. And our trashy friend ChrisR showed up too.

Hershey, PA

We’re heading South. And guess what? HERSHEY, PA IS SOUTH! Have I told you lately that I love candy? We rolled into Hershey Park Camping Resort on a Thursday and picked out a pull through spot before heading down into town to grab some hot chocolate. Because we’re only in Hershey for 4 days – and I fully intend to fill those four days with chocolate. The campground wasn’t a ‘great deal’ financially, but it was a ‘great deal’ in that it was close to all things chocolate. And, we occasionally caught wiffs of chocolate wafting in the air from…

Corning, NY

After spending two and a half months in Rochester, NY, ditching Dyna and hanging with friends and getting ourselves married, we pried ourselves away from our sweet little short term lease apartment and plopped ourselves (and Lucy) back into our box on wheels. Things start getting a little unpredictable weather wise in Western, NY come October. And, while Dyna is really good at a lot of things, like providing a familiar bed to rest our bodies in while we travel the U.S., one thing she is not very good at is providing for climate control. In short – when it…
