Denver, CO (Round 2)

Colorado. Why are you so cool? How did you get this way? With all of your cool sunsets. And your cool mountains. And your cool air. And your cool people… Colorado has been on our minds since our last visit (last August). So, we returned. We parked in Holly’s driveway. We walked her Henry-pup. We bathed in her shower. We mooched off of her electricity. We laundered our clothes in her machines. We snuggled all together on her couch. We crashed party invites as +1s. We followed her into Rocky Mountain National Park on a hunt to see some horny…

Fort Collins, CO

We love Colorado. A lot. Fantastic beer. Amazing opportunities for outdoor activities. Ghost towns. The Rockies almost always looming in the distance. Adventure culture. But there is more in Colorado for us to love than just the ‘Colorado’ of Colorado.  We’ve got people here.  And the people let us moochdock in their driveway. And they cook us food and share adult beverages with us. And they are generally more kind, thoughtful, and engaging than is probably warranted. So, we spent several very relaxing, engaging days with living as neighbors to Micheal and Robin. We shared food. And wine. And beer.…

Medicine Bow National Forest, WY

We heard reports of some good National Forest land between Laramie and Cheyenne, so we pointed Dyna that way. Reports we confirmed- solid boondocking spot out around Pole Mountain in Medicine Bow National Forest. Seriously- gorgeous country. And, as an added bonus, we were the only folks out there for our two night stay! Double bonus: a presidential debate occurred during our stay. And personally, there isn’t a better motivator for experiencing some ‘alone time’ than a presidential debate.  Of course, it’s been a few posts since we’ve had to write about repairs. But don’t worry, Dyna’s got your back.…

Rock Springs, WY

Fun fact: Wyoming had the lowest population of all 50 states. So much land. So few people. Not always a bad thing…  We meandered into Rock Springs, WY and parked the big lug at the fairgrounds. After searching for a working water spigot to hook-up to for way longer than was appropriate, we put down our levelers and settled in for a few nights. We woke up to crazy wind and freezing rain sideways freezing hail. It didn’t stop for two days. Our weather app made no mention of the possibility of this type of weather. We noted that the weather…

Rexburg, ID

“Holy crap! Pull over!” Potatoes and onions aren’t the only interesting things in Idaho. Idaho also has ‘the moon.’ Recently, we haven’t been traveling with ‘firm’ plans. We’ve just been driving. East. So, when we drove into Craters of the Moon National Monument, we were pretty surprised. We had no idea that Idaho had a large swath of land impersonating the moon. We’re glad it does; the novelty of this place makes it pretty awesome. In full disclosure, Idaho’s ‘moon’ doesn’t have anything to do with the ‘real’ moon. Craters of the Moon was created by volcanic fissure eruptions. You can…

Parma, ID

Big wheels have been turning toward middle America. We don’t have a firm plan of when we’ll arrive. We don’t have a specific route we’re planning to drive. But, we do have a goal of reaching Colorado in the near-ish future.  Idaho is currently providing us with a road to explore while headed in that general direction. Idaho also touts many roadside attractions. Alright, alright– so far, most of those ‘roadside attractions’ have been potatoes and onions laying alongside the road. But hey, an attraction is an attraction. And an attraction being edible is definitely a bonus.  We happened upon…

Eugene, OR (Round 2)

Some stops are glamorous only in retrospect. Our second rendezvous with the greater Eugene, OR, area was glamorous only in retrospect. We spent much of our second date with Eugene hopping between RV shops. The Eugene, Oregon area (specifically, Coburg and Junction City) is a mecca for RV craftsmen. So, we hunted a few down. We beat them into submission. We forced them to agree to install a new floor, re-upholster our couch, and paint a few trouble spots on Dyna’s 15 year old exterior. (Okay, we paid them- same difference).  We also coerced these poor folks into letting us…

Olympia, WA

Sometimes, the realization that we are ‘living the dream’ hits me like a sack of hard candy. So many moments of perfection. I don’t believe in perfection as a constant state. But I do believe in it as moments; which are usually interuppted by something small pest (i.e. mosquito, roll of the ankle, cat pooping in the littler box, lube pump giving out- again, etc.).  But damn, when you’re in that moment, it’s good. So good. Perfect, in fact.  We did a bit of ‘back tracking’ this month and headed back down towards Central-Western Oregon in preparation for getting some…

Whidbey Island, WA

What’s more fun than living on an island for a week? Living on an island where family also resides. What’s not fun about living on an island for a week? When the campground you have booked has no cellular reception, thus rendering you internetless. This doesn’t sound too awful- except when you rely on the internet to earn the money you need to travel full time in an awesome but cranky RV. Jake spent a lot of time at the local library, and I spent a lot of time climbing the highest nearby hill and attempting to get enough signal…

Seattle, WA

What’s better than getting to visit a highly hyped new-to-you place like Seattle for the first time? Your sister coming to visit it with you for the first time! That’s right, readers of lifewithdyna. Kay Pfleghardt is in the (wheeled) house! We’ve been looking forward to both Seattle and Kay for a bit now; we love being tourists and Seattle is pretty much the perfect place to practice that art. So, we played tourist. Hard. Even purchasing a Seattle CityPASS. Because it gives you (cheaper) access to all the (expensive) touristy highlights of the beautiful, bustling city of Seattle.  We used…
